About This Site
A bit about who I am, and why I built Fitness Tools Reviewed.
I spent several years in the British Army. It was hard, often thankless work, but it gave me structure, purpose, and a level of physical discipline I didn’t fully appreciate until it was gone.
When I left, I struggled. More than I expected. More than I showed anyone. Over time, things got bad in ways I’m still not entirely comfortable writing about — but I’ll be honest with you: there was a period where I had nowhere to live, and a period where addiction had a grip on me that I didn’t know how to break.
I’m not going to dress that up.
What I can tell you is what helped me find my way back. It wasn’t one thing. It wasn’t a single moment. But consistently, across the worst of it and the slow climb out, fitness was there. Not as a cure. Not as some magic answer. But as something I could do. Something I could control. Something that made me feel — even on the darkest days — like my body was still mine.
I started small. A walk. Then longer walks. Then running. I started tracking things — sleep, steps, calories — not obsessively, but carefully. I found apps that helped me stay accountable when I had no one to be accountable to. I found communities built around movement and progress. Bit by bit, those tools became part of how I rebuilt a routine, and a routine became the foundation of a life I’m genuinely proud of now.
Why I Built This Site
The fitness app and technology market is enormous. There are hundreds of options, all promising to be the thing that changes your life. Most reviews you’ll find online are surface-level, full of affiliate buzzwords, or clearly written by someone who tested the free trial for a week and moved on.
I wanted something different. I wanted honest reviews from someone who has actually needed these tools to work — not just as a hobby tracker, but as a lifeline.
I know what it feels like to be at the start of something hard and not know which tool will actually help. I know what it’s like to waste money on an app that doesn’t fit how your brain works. And I know what it’s like when you find the right one — when something clicks and you actually stick with it.
That’s what this site is for. Not to sell you something. Not to tell you that every product is a 9 out of 10. But to give you an honest, plain-English take on what’s actually worth your time and money — and just as importantly, what isn’t.
A Note on Affiliate Links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays free to run. But it does not influence what I write. If something isn’t worth it, I say so. I’d rather you make the right decision and trust this site than make a sale and lose your trust.
If you’ve got questions, product suggestions, or just want to say hello — the contact page is always open.
